Wolf whistles for burly builders in the pink

A TEAM of burly builders are tickled pink after raising £143 for Cancer Research UK.

Usually known for their checked shirts and low-slung jeans, this group of brave men donned pink bras, T-shirts, frilly scarves and woolly hats to mark the end of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The gang of 12 work for Bramhall Construction and are currently building six new homes for rent on Exmouth Street, Barrow.

Team boss, site manager Ian Reynolds, said they did get some strange looks from passers-by but that was all part of the fun.

He said: “It was a company thing across the North West, to get involved with raising money for breasts cancer research by wearing pink.

“I, and a few others, wore pink T-shirts, some of the lads wore pink frilly scarves and one wore a pink bra.

“The others who couldn’t get hold of anything pink put ribbons around their hard hats.

“They really got into the spirit of it and some lads even borrowed stuff off neighbours. They were all game for a laugh.

“We did get some funny looks from people wondering why lads on a building site were wearing pink but that’s all part of the fun.

“I would like to thank all the lads for taking part and everyone who donated money.”
